Passion for Needy, a charitable organisation belonging to Prophet TB Joshua, has held a Christmas party for the inmates of five needy institutions in the Greater Accra Region.

The inmates were given food, drinks and gifts and were presented with bags of rice from the NGO’s farm in Pra Ewusi in the Central Region.

The beneficiary institutions were the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, Society for the Socially Disadvantaged at Kaneshie, New Life Orphanage at Nungua, Christian Home Orphanage and Canal Academy, a day care centre for the underprivileged at Teshie.

Mrs Janet Torgbor El-Aschker, Chairperson of Passion for Needy, said the NGO was established three years ago by Prophet TB Joshua to provide need-based assistance to individuals and communities.

“This assistance is provided to individuals and communities irrespective of their religious and ethnic backgrounds and is aimed at supporting government’s effort in reducing poverty among the citizenry,” she said.

Mrs El-Aschker said Prophet TB Joshua established the NGO because of the love he had for Ghanaians and called on all to support the needy in their communities.

She said the party was organised in order to put smiles on the faces of needy children so as to make them feel part of the festive season.

She said the organisation, since its establishment, had assisted a lot of people including inmates at Nsawam Prisons, patients who could not settle their hospital bills at the Korle-bu Teaching and Ridge hospitals, and provided educational sponsorship packages for the needy.

Since 2011, the NGO has registered 22 adults and 57 children under the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable beneficiaries to easily access healthcare in any approved health facility in the country.
