Kumasi, March 15, GNA - The Anglican Diocese of Kumasi, on Saturday celebrated a pontifical thanksgiving Mass to mark the 10th anniversary of the consecration of the Right Reverend Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo as the third Bishop of the Diocese. The first two Bishops were the late Rt. Rev. John Benjamin Arthur and the Rt. Rev. Edmund Kodjo Yeboah. Among the large crowd of worshippers at the Saint Cyprian's Cathedral in Kumasi to participate in the special Mass and the blessing of Bishop Yinkah-Sarfo, was the Most Rev. (rtd), Peter Akwasi Sarpong, Arch bishop of the Kumasi Catholic Diocese. The others were, Rt. Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante, Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church and Most Rev. Osei Bonsu, Bishop of the Konongo-Mampong Diocese of the Catholic Church, Archdeacons, Deacons and Priests of the Anglican Church and Traditional Leaders. The occasion was also used to launch the 36th Anniversary celebration of the creation of the Diocese. Bishop Yinkah-Sarfo thanked God for all the good things that happened to the Diocese and asked that God continued to shower His blessings on members of the Church.

He said the Church was poised to undertake evangelism under the theme "God's People for God's mission", this year to win more Souls for Christ. Bishop Yinkah-Sarfo said the Diocese has a corporate plan for short, medium and long term development, which has a five-fold plan action in the areas of evangelism and mission, Christian education, human Resource development, investment and pursuance of the UN Millennium Development Goals. He said the Diocese had for the past 10 years, roofed many Churches and schools, cultivated a 35-acre mango farm at Ejura, a built a hostel at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), to house students and formed a Diocesan Cooperative Credit Union for micro-financing. Bishop Yinkah-Sarfo said that the Diocese now has 58 serving priests, 33 parishes and chaplains, 46 catechists who are on Diocesan pay roll, nine evangelists and seven Archdeaconries adding that the Diocese intended to create Mampong as a Suffragan area for a Suffragan Bishop. He presented gifts to members of the Diocese from the various Parishes and received special blessings from Arch Bishop Sarpong. 15 March 09
