The church has lost focus and is mired in corruption and deception, the Leader and Founder of the Evangelical Calvarian Mission of Ghana has said.
He described as “simply incredible” the way some churches are taking advantage of the ignorance of the people to dupe them.
The confused messages, false claims and prophecies, he said, had robbed the church of every moral authority to portray itself as the conscience of society.
He was speaking at a forum held at the church’s auditorium at Adukrom in Kumasi to celebrate its 45th anniversary.
“Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to live together in unity,” was the theme.
The Rev. Yamoah said the church needs to do sincere self-examination and self-correction to recover lost ground and return to the right path.
The mad rush and craze for material gains must stop, the spotlight must be on bringing salvation to people. Glorification of the wealthy and despise of the poor is completely unacceptable and could not continue.
He called for discipline in the church and the society, saying, without this there could neither be peace nor progress.
It is important to ensure innovative and compulsory teaching of moral education in schools to aid children to become God-fearing, humane and honest, he added.
