The impact of Jesus Christ on the world

Ho, Dec. 24, GNA - The lesson the world has continued to learn about Jesus Christ throughout the ages is that he cannot be ignored, the Reverend Father Dr L.P. Akli, Chaplain of Ho Polytechnic, has asserted.

“The life of Jesus is indelibly engraved upon history. Neither the erosion of time nor the devastating and compounding effects of evil has been able to erase his influence,” Reverend Father Akli said in his Christmas message at a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at the Polytechnic.

“You cannot ignore Jesus because he changed things. He is the single agent of change in human history,” he said.

Reverend Father Akli said Jesus Christ’s teachings “are not complex, or exclusive, but simple practical and applicable to everyone, everywhere, in every time in history, regardless of age, colour or state of life”.

“Jesus Christ saw things differently,” he said adding “they had no respect for the status quo.”

Reverend Father Akli said even those opposed to him and who did not believe his status as the son of God nevertheless acknowledged that Jesus Christ had made a tremendously phenomenal imprint on human history.

“Regardless of whether or not we believe he was the son of God, because of this man who walked the earth 2,000 years ago, men and women will never live the same, will never be the same,” Reverend Father Akli quoted a Jewish scholar as saying about Jesus Christ.

He said Jesus Christ’s good news taught that beyond life’s complexities, chaos and confusion there was simplicity, understanding and salvation that brought happiness.

Reverend Father Akli said: “Christianity without doubt is confronted with many challenges from modern popular culture, and to a large extent it is not always very clear whether Christianity is changing the world or the world is transforming Christianity into a commercial and entertainment enterprise.”
