Tijaniyya muslims calls for govt. Support

The Tijaniyya Muslim Council of Ghana has appeal to the government for support in its annual prayers for the nation.

According to the leader of the council, Sheikh Khalifa Abul Faidi Abdulai Maikano, the group has contributed immensely for the peaceful co-existence among the religious bodies in the country.

He indicated that no government apart from Dr. Nkrumah and Ignatius Acheapong who paid serious attention to what they had being doing for the country.

The leader of Tinjaniyya Muslim Council was speaking at the end of their 52nd annual Quran Recitation in Prang District of the Brong Ahafo Region over the weekend.

He also called on the District Assembly and the government to come to the aid of the area since the area lacks portable drinking water and good roads.

The event which started some 52 years ago by the founder of Tijaniyya, Sheikh Baba Jallo Maikano, former chief Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces in the first Republic, seeks to bring together Muslims around the globe and pray for the peace and divine guidance of the country, Ghana.

The main purpose for the annual prayers was to ensure the peaceful co-existence among the people of different religious faith in Ghana and the world.

Present at the ceremony was the vice presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahmud Bawumia, Chair person of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Madam Samia Nkrumah and regional secretary of National Peace Council.
