Bolgatanga, Dec 6, GNA - The Local Council of Churches in the Upper East Region on Friday marched in the Bolgatanga Municipality, reiterating the need for peace during and after the election. After the peace march they converged at the Jubilee Park where they prayed for a peaceful election.

Reverend Lazarus Akaburi, Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God, said God had already chosen a leader for the country. Therefore, nothing should be done to mar the integrity Ghana had chalked in building democracy and appealed to political leaders to accept the result of the election. They also carried placards which read "Peace is Unity," "Peace is treasure protect it", "Let Ghana be Ghana after election," "Love Peace and Hate war."

Rev Alfred Afful of the Baptist Church said the fact that all churches in the region had come together to stress the need for peace was a clear testimony of unity, oneness, and togetherness and appealed to the electorate to demonstrate it since it was the only way to bring about development. He cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be deceived by selfish politicians who want cause mayhem.
