Use gifts of the Holy Spirit to unite Ghanaians

Gomoa Adaa (C/R), May 24, GNA - Ghanaians have been charged to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit given to them to unite the nation. Rev. Fr. Joseph Morgan, Catholic Priest in charge of Gomoa Dawurampong Rectory, who made the call in a sermon at Pentecost Rally at Gomoa Adaa on Sunday, expressed concern about polarisation of the citizens on party and religious lines and said it did not augur well for national development. According to the Bible, Pentecost day marked that day when the Holy Spirit descended to strengthen disciples, as promised by Jesus Christ. It is celebrated on the 50th day after Easter

The Holy Spirit descended on the disciples in a form of strong wind and fire united them and made them more powerful and fearless to proclaim the gospel.

The 37 stations under Apam Parish of the Church spent three days at Adaa to pray and kept a vigil in readiness for the Holy Spirit. Rev. Fr. Morgan said the Holy Spirit did not only unite the disciples but also came along with gifts in various forms to help them to discharge diverse duties.

He said people who did not want to reconcile with their neighbours did not have the Holy Spirit in them.

The priest urged Ghanaians to find what gift they had from the Holy Spirit and how they were using it for the benefit of their neighbours and the nation as a whole. He said people must be bold to confront problems facing the nation as the Holy Spirit had allayed their fears. Nana Okutwe Bekoe IV, Chief of Gomoa Adaa, said because Christians did not have faith in the God they worshipped, they kept on moving from place to place looking for miracles. He said if they had faith that God could solve their problems, they would remain stable. The chief urged Christians to show love for their neighbours stressing that because they did not love, they could not be their brother's keeper. Nana Bekoe advised people of Gomoa to give education of their children a priority.
