Accra, Jan. 9, GNA - The Rt. Rev. N.A. Tackie-Yarboi, Bishop of Victory Bible Church International, has congratulated President John Evans Atta Mills on his assumption of the presidency and urged him to initiate moves to unite the country. In a release signed by the General Secretary, the Rev. Cornelius Adja Cofie, the Bishop urged the newly sworn-in President, the father of the Nation, to quickly initiate moves to heal the differences in all segments of society.
Rt. Rev. Tackie-Yarboi said the healing process must take place, within the various parties, supporters and the general public where political differences had torn apart friends and families countrywide. He also thanked the Almighty God for another peaceful election and transition saying despite serious electoral challenges the church and the nation faced, God made peace to prevail.
Rt. Rev. Tackie-Yarboi commended all the key stakeholders, civil society, religious bodies and the electorate for their timely interventions, patience and valour in which they conducted themselves during the presidential run-off.
He also urged all well-meaning Ghanaians to bury their differences, join hands to support the new NDC administration under President Atta Mills to build a strong and united democratic process, peace and the rule of law.
Rt. Rev. Tackie-Yarboi said the only thing that would steer the nation toward political and economic salvation was to revamp the attitude towards work, peace, tranquillity and security, putting God first to lead the front-line in the affairs of the nation. He urged President Atta Mills to make attempts at directing decision-making, particularly parliament, to overhaul outdated regulatory systems that would head off the country's sharp political differences which tended to polarise the nation. Rt. Rev. Tackie-Yarboi applauded ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor "for carving for himself a legacy in the area of good governance, rule of law, stable economy, peace and freedom in development the nation has enjoyed during his tenure".
