We Can Do It – Says Lawrence Tetteh

Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, founder of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach and convener of the Ghana for Christ Crusade says there is no reason why Ghana should not cross the December general elections without violence.

“I have been to many countries but it is only in Ghana that Christians and Muslims sit together on issues. The tolerance that we have for each other must see us through in this election,” he said.

The man of God was addressing a news conference in Accra yesterday to announce this year’s Ghana for Christ Crusade slated from November 1 to November 3, at the Trade Fair in Accra.

According to Dr. Tetteh, the crusade to be supervised by the renowned Rev. Dr. Richard Roberts of the Oral Roberts Ministries in the US, is expected to attract high profile personalities including former Presidents Rawlings and Kufuor as well as all the flagbearers of the political parties.

He said he was positive that “God would give Ghana a leader after His heart”, adding “We should desist from undermining the credibility of the very leaders we will be looking up to after the election.”

“Ghanaians have a lot to be thankful to God for. Indeed, we need to count our blessings. As December approaches, we should be circumspect with our utterances,” he said.

Dr. Tetteh regretted that the media is currently replete with “character assassination, mudslinging, disrespectful attitude of certain individuals and copious unguarded and un-researched statements. Decency, civility and respect for one another should be our guiding principle.”

He said that ideological differences should not lead Ghana to hostility adding “we must not create the impression that Ghana is at war.”

He said once Ghana is highly regarded as democratic, “We must live up to this enviable reputation.”

He appealed to his colleague men of God not to openly take political sides saying “we should be circumspect in approaching political issues otherwise we would divide the front.”

“Peace only comes from God. It is not propaganda that can grant us peace. It is the prayer of Christians that has led the country this far. We should commit this election in the hands of God.”

Rev. Dr. Roberts described Ghana as his second home and said that God had specifically mentioned Ghana to him as a country he should commit his effort.

He said he would lead a team of pastors and medical professionals from the United States to Ghana for medical outreach programmes next year.

“I love this nation and I know God loves Ghana. For the past five years since I retired from the academia, I have been in the healing ministry and Ghana has not been left out of my plans,” he revealed.
