We are not competing with each other

The Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships has called for the strengthening of ties among Christian denominations.

Mr. George Omane, its National President, said they shared a common mission and goal of working to bring salvation to the people and, therefore, should not do anything that would remotely suggest that they were competing with each other.

“We are not in competition with one another and as such we ought to come together for missionary work to influence change in the interest of the society,” Mr. Omane said.

He said this when he led a delegation to pay courtesy calls on the leaderships of the Presbyterian and Anglican churches in Kumasi.

The visit formed part of activities to mark the 30th anniversary and eighth biennial conference of the Association.

He appealed to the denominations to vigorously share experiences and ideas, particularly in the area of evangelism, to transform the society.

Mr. Omane praised the early missionaries for overcoming the challenges of their time to preach the gospel and said there was a lot to learn from them.

The Most Reverend Professor Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo, Primate and Metropolitan Archbishop of the Anglican Church of the Province of West Africa, commended the Association for its significant contribution to the promotion of discipline and the spread of the gospel.
