Accra, July 12, GNA - The Reverend Joseph Anang Obodai, a Retired Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has called on Ghanaians to be serious with the Word of God for the salvation and transformation of the country. He pointed out that when Ghanaians were imbued with the Word of God, they could help the vulnerable and marginalized in society to develop their talents, knowledge and skills towards national development.
The Rev. Obodai was delivering the sermon at the elevation of Glory Preaching Post at Adentan Town to Congregational Status in the Adenta District of the Church on Sunday. The Preaching Post established in 2000 by the Bible Study and Prayer Group (BSPG) of Adenta Christ Congregation of the church, held its first service on Sunday, September 11, 2004 with 18 members, but now has 261 members. The Rev. Obodai who is currently the Resident Minister of Teshie Nii Jorn Congregation, called on Christians not to give intellectual interpretation to the Word of God because it had the power to do everything, transform mankind and society.
He noted that the Word of God when taken serious in the various congregations had the power to evangelise and inspire the poor to have faith in God and that "the depressed would rejoice and have salvation." "Most Ghanaians are not relying on the Word of God for salvation but are now depending on oil administered by some 'men of the Gospel' which does not give salvation to mankind," he added. The Reverend Ben Larsey, Adenta District Minister, urged the new congregation to be well focused and determined to propagate the Word of God in Adentan Town.
He asked them to continue to maintain unity among the members, be prayerful and ensure strong spiritual discipline for the congregation which had a bright future.
