Kuntunse(GAR), July 16, GNA - Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for work to begin on a 15-million-dollar multi-purpose conference centre to enhance investment and improve the revenue base of the church.

It comprises meeting rooms, lodges, kitchen and other recreational facilities to serve needs of the church and corporate Ghana. Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso, said the centre would offer employment to church members especially the youth.

"Today's ceremony would awaken our people to the seriousness of the church leadership in spearheading the investment drive of the church to alleviate the "giving fatigue" among members," he said. He said the centre formed part of the church's three projects, namely 'Salem Hotel', 'Trinity Triangle' and a National Millennium Development Fund to augment the financial base and budgetary allocation of the church's activities.

Rt-Rev Frimpong-Manso urged the church members to make a monthly contribution of one Ghana cedi to support the project. "I expect a positive response to help the church raise a substantial equity for investments into viable projects." Mr Emmanuel Adjetey, Architect on the project said there was an initial amount of eight million dollars to begin the first phase and was optimistic the project would be completed within five years. 16 July 08
