Youth urged to take interest in Evangelism

Mr Joseph Baah Okyere, Director of the Tamale Institute of Bible Studies (TIBS), has urged the youth to take special interest in Evangelism to help change lives.

He said the patronage of theological studies in the country was low, because of the youth’s desire for other programmes and activities, to earn quick money and leave the work of God for the aged.

Mr Okyere, made the call at a ceremony held in Tamale, to graduate 10 preachers after the successful completion of a two-year intensive training in Theology, under the auspices of the Church of Christ.

They were awarded certificates, Thompson chain reference bibles, and bicycles to enhance their work.

Mr Okyere said the Institute had commenced leadership training programmes and evangelistic campaigns, as well as women development for interested people with scholarships to address the current leadership gap being witnessed in the country.

Giving the background of the Institute, Mr Okyere said, TIBS was established in 2009 with support from the Bear Valley Bible Institute extension school, under the direction of the Tamale East and West congregations, along with Steven Ashcraft, who had served as a missionary /evangelist to train preachers and leaders for evangelism.

He said the Institute sought to serve the spiritual needs of the congregations in the northern sector, and to nurture interested individuals who wish to dedicate their lives to the work of God

Evangelist Steven Ashcraft, Coordinator of the Institute, urged preachers to hold fast to sound doctrines of God, and defend them as Jesus did, to prevent false preachers from leading people astray.

“Let us again proclaim from the rooftops, the message of restoration, and lead a crusade to get believers back to Christ and to the church, of which He is the Builder, Foundation, Head Purchaser and Saviour,” he said.

He urged the preachers to show commitment to the work of God, as Paul and others did, to reach out to millions of souls.

A plaque was unveiled in honour of the late Mrs AVRIL Marylin Keoughan, a Canadian public health practitioner, for her dedication towards the growth of the Institute.
