Evangelical Presbyterian Church holds Retreat

Suhum (E/R), Aug.1, GNA-Mr. Emmanuel Elis Danku, President of the West Volta Presbyters Union of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church has called on politicians to let their utterances promote peace and national unity and reduce tension as the country prepares to elect leaders in December.

He said as the nation entered another era in the democratic development, there was the need for Ghanaians to be united to ensure that the peace process succeeded.

Mr Danku made the call at the opening of the 47th General Conference and the Third Annual Retreat of the Church at Suhum in the Eastern Region on Friday.

The three-day conference and retreat under the theme; "Called to Serve' is aimed at praying to God for committed and dedicated leaders in December and also electing new a Moderator and a Synod Clerk for the Church.

Mr. Danku asked all Ghanaians to pray for God's guidance in selecting capable leaders who have the development of the nation at heart.

He asked the electorate to reject any politician whose actions may tend to sow seeds of discord in the country.

The President also asked eligible voters not to attempt to vote twice since the law would not spare them when caught.

The Reverend Joyce Kofi Kodade, Acting Presbytery Chairman of the church asked political parties to exhibit a high level of tolerance before, during and after the elections.
