Wa, Aug 3, GNA - Mr. Alhaji Issahaku Saliah, the Upper West Regional Minister, has commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission for expanding the frontiers of its activities to seek more involvement of women.
He also thanked the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association and the Mission for being so instrumental in changing the fortunes of many Ghanaians in education, health, proper upbringing of children as well as the propagation of Islam.
Alhaji Issahaku Saliah said this on Monday at the 31st annual convention of the Lajna Imaillah (Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association) at Wa.
He told mothers that their actions and inactions could have a greater influence on the attitude of children as they spent longer hours with children than any other person.
Alhaji Saliah appealed to all especially mothers to implant as a way of life; virtuous living in their children to help reverse the spate of moral decadence in society.
This year's conference which took place at the Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education was on the theme: "Curbing Moral Decadence: the Role of the Muslim Woman".
Hajia Rahmatu Muslim, National President of the Association, advised Muslim women traders and food vendors not to resort to ungodly means to run their businesses but rather pray fervently to Allah to bless their hands to succeed.
She said Muslim women should be guided by the fact that they would one day be accountable to Allah and must learn to be honest, truthful and pure in heart to attract his blessings.
The conference which brought together Muslim women from all over the country was to promote peace and imbibe in them the importance of good moral values as well as the spirit of socialization that would ensure a descent and a peaceful society for all in the country.
In addition, the conference would teach the delegates how to render social services especially the needy.
Madam Cate Bob Milliar, Regional Director of the Department of Women, expressed worry about indiscipline among female students in the universities and other tertiary institutions and called for efforts to address it before it completely destroys the moral fabrics of society.
She called on parents to teach their children good moral values to enable them learn how to dress decently and speak humbly, stressing that it was the only way they would grow to appreciate their culture.
Speaking on the topic, "Islamic dress code and its impact on society" Ms. Zurfata Salih called on Muslim women to let their dressing be a shining example for others to emulate.
"If you are a Muslim woman and you dress indecently, indecent people will harass you indecently and Almighty Allah will not forgive you on the Day of Judgment", she said.
She also advised them not to allow their eyes and mouths serve as tools that would tear society apart but rather tools that would promote peace and ensure the general wellbeing of society.
Madam Alijata Sulemana, Sissala East District Chief Executive, urged Muslim women to be faithful, honest and sincere in all their endeavours to attract the blessings of Allah.
She said in Ghana women constitute a significant percentage of the total population and any irresponsible behaviour on their part could have a negative impact on the development of children and the entire society.
