Wamfie (B/A) Sept. 02,GNA - Right Reverend James Baffour-Awuah, Methodist Bishop of Sunyani, at the weekend said immorality was seeping into the fabric of the church in recent times.
He said fornication, indecent dressing and other immoral acts should not be accepted within the church and advised members to devote more of their time to the study of the Bible to obtain God's blessing.
The Methodist Bishop was addressing members of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) at their biennial diocesan prayer festival at Wamfie in the Dormaa West District of Brong-Ahafo region.
More than 400 members of the fellowship attended the three-day festival which was under the theme: 93integrity-our way of life".
Rt. Rev. Baffour-Awuah stressed the need for the youth to make conscious efforts to develop and position themselves to grow and become responsible adults rather than adopting crude methods to acquire wealth and power.
"It is a pity that young men and women of today do everything they could to become rich irrespective of the dangers associated with such acts", he bemoaned.
The Bishop admonished female members of the fellowship especially the unemployed against the attitude of 93counting on their male counterparts for survival" saying 93those male friends whom you consider as your bread-winners are only interested in using you to satisfy their sexual desires and dump you afterwards".
Very Rev. Jonathan Aduse Poku, Sunyani Diocesan Youth Organiser of the church, advised the members to 93learn not to harbour bitterness and anger as that could adversely have effect on both their physical and spiritual growth".
The Diocesan chairman of the MYF, Mr. Thomas Obour, implored the youth of the church to remain steadfast in the Lord and work hard to promote the growth of the fellowship and the church as a whole.
