Serve as active advocates, participants in environmental conservation and sanitation – EPCG Moderator

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd.) has entreated pastors to serve as active participants in environmental sanitation exercises as well as advocates against the country’s ecological destruction.

“Besides pastoral duties, it is our religious, moral and civic responsibility to participate diligently in community environmental cleanliness and other forms of developmental engagements as well as serving as advocates against environmental devastation,” he underscored.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko was speaking at Adaklu Waya, near Ho, the Volta Regional capital, during the ordination of eighteen pastors into full-time ministry, following completion of their two-year probationary stewardship in EPCG congregations countrywide.

The fourteen men and four women pastors, dressed in new gown robes and preaching bands (clergy bibs), were taken through the rites of ministerial vows and sanctification in line with the Church’s doctrine.

According to Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko, the involvement of the Church in community developmental programmes would largely reinforce a pleasant relationship with the chiefs, opinion leaders and residents, and could also enhance the growth of congregations.

He urged the newly ordained ministers to uphold and demonstrate values of diligence, integrity, faithfulness, compassion, and promoting peace and unity, expected of them as dedicated stewards of Christ.

Speaking at the event, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu, who also serves as the Minister for Roads and Highways commended the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana for its significant role as key partners of the state in the areas of religion, education and health.

He said the Church and its educational institutions have turned out people of high morals, proficiency and intellect who have contributed in diverse capacities to the success story of Ghana.



He disclosed the government’s intention to rehabilitate roads within the Amedzofe community in the Ho-West District, the location of E.P College of Amedzofe (AMECO), before the end of 2026.



The ordination service coincided with the launch of the EPCG 5-Year Strategic Plan Implementation, and the 170th anniversary of the establishment of E.P Church at Adaklu Waya, venue of the event. The event therefore attracted people from all walks of life, including the Moderator and other leading members of the Eglise Evangelique Presbyterienne du Togo (EEPT) as well as traditional authorities and high-ranking political leaders.
