GFZB DONATES TO NATIONAL CHIEF IMAM

The Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB) last
Thursday made a donation of GH¢3,000 to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman
Nuhu Sharubutu at his residence in Fadama a suburb of Accra; as part of the
Board’s social responsibility to the people of Ghana.

Hanatu Bimi who made the donation on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of GFZB,
Mr Kwodwo Twum-Boafo, said her outfit recognizes the immense support of the Muslim
community to the development of the
country particularly during the month of Ramadan. It is in this vein that the
GFZB has felt the need to support Muslims in their holy month.
“We
are also aware of the fact that there is tremendous pressure on your office to
help those in need and we in recognition of it came to help shed off some of the
burden...after all helping the poor and needy is noT the sole responsibility of
Muslims,” she said.
Receiving the cheque d on behalf of the
entire Muslim community, Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu thanked the GFZB for its kind
gesture , adding, however, that the
donation would not be used for the benefit of Muslims alone but everybody who
is in need regardless of his or her religious affiliation or ethnic background.
Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu explained that
Ramadan is the month in which the Holy Quran was sent to Prophet Mohammed and
as such has been laid aside purely for Prayer and Fasting for the peace of the
world. He thus stressed on the fact that “it is incumbent on us to pray for
peace to continue to prevail in Ghana before, during and after the December
Polls.”
He said although the country is mourning
the death of the late President, all must remain focused on ensuring that the
peace of the country stands the test of time.
“Let’s be circumspect in our speech and deeds
so that we do not trouble this peace that we are enjoying” he admonished.
He also called on President John Dramani
Mahama to continue to foster the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and
Christians just like his predecessor did.
