Irish-born Catholic priest Reverend Father Andrew Campbell has advised Easter holidaymakers to have fun in Kwahu but keep immoral acts out of their celebrations.
Kwahu, in the Eastern region, is the hotspot destination for revelers during Easter in Ghana. The place attracts tourists from all over the world. They engage in paragliding, street carnivals, hiking, mountain climbing, and open parties.
Speaking to Class News, the parish priest of the Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra said people should stay away from sex and alcohol this season, and rather reflect on the love of Christ.
“People can go there and enjoy themselves… and still live a good moral life,” he stated.
“What is wrong with that? Go and enjoy yourself,” he said, but cautioned: “Keep the immorality out; sex and getting drunk is not going to make you happy.
“If you lead a good life and you like this paragliding, enjoy yourself. But you can also be going to church, and after church, go there and enjoy yourself for the Lord is not against enjoying yourself.
“We should reflect on Christ’s love for us. Strong is his love for us. There is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life. So many people don’t realise the foundation of the spiritual life is to realise God does love us,” he noted.
