Most Reverend Dr. Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo
Anglican Primate and Metropolitan Archbishop of the Central Province of West Africa, the Most Reverend Dr. Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo, has asked politicians to be conciliatory and civil in their pronouncements.
He said this was necessary to remove needless tension and acrimony as the nation prepared to go to the polls, later in the year.
Delivering an Easter message in Kumasi, he said the expectation was that the political campaign and conversation would be substantive on policy.
The political parties and their supporters should be telling voters what they would be doing differently to bring development and make things better for them.
Archbishop Yinkah-Sarfo again encouraged the key political actors to cooperate and support the Electoral Commission (EC), to conduct a clean, fair and credible election.
He said it was important for all to accept to work together to grow the nation’s multi-party democracy, protect its stability and the unity of the people.
He asked Christians to be inspired by Christ’s resurrection to be patient, hopeful and prayerful in the face of suffering and difficulties.
Archbishop Yinkah-Sarfo said through the sacrifice of the Messiah, they had every reason “to rejoice and be glad of his redemptive work”, adding that, the “devil will not have the last word”.
He called for them to be unwavering in their faith and to uphold the values of sacrifice and service to humanity.
