And its the Golden Tree Hotel!

Like the USA?s Watergate, the ?Hotel Kufuor? saga continues to unravel, and bit-by- bit, the mystery surrounding that Presidential display of opulence will be exploded.

Our source is impeccable, and despite the frantic efforts of President Kufuor and his team to discover our source, dry up our source, or even pay off our source, he or she will remain as mysterious as the Hotel itself.

It took the USA 30 years to discover the ?Deep Throat?, the mysterious source for Woodward and Bernstein, the two ?Washington Post? journalists who broke the Watergate scandal wide open, was Mark Felt, the Deputy Director of the FBI.

We trust that our source will remain secret for a longer period. And what has our source got for us today?

First, and as published in our other story today, the Company that has been formed and owns ?Hotel Kufuor? is called ?West Airport Hospitality Company Limited?.

Unfortunately, all documentation on the Company has been wiped clean from the records of the Registrar-General?s Department. But we promise you we shall get the information.

Second, the myth about ?other shareholders? apart from Chief John Addo Kufuor has also been broken. It is just that ? a myth!

Our information is that there is only one other shareholder in the West Airport Hospitality Co. Ltd, owners of ?Hotel Kufuor?, and she is the sister of Chief John Addo Kufuor! In other words, she is the daughter of President John Agyekum Kufuor and Mrs. Theresa Kufuor. It?s a family affair!

Third, the Hotel itself is called ?Golden Tree Hotel?. From today therefore, we will continue to call the Hotel ?Hotel Kufuor?, but only as an a.k.a. (also known as)

The choice of name, we are told, is based on two considerations.

? A suspected association of the financing of the Hotel with a very expensive mineral ore mined in Ghana but whose interest has recently been sold to a rich African country down south.

? Its proximity to the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, named after the man who brought cocoa to Ghana from Fernando Po (Equatorial Guinea), and which has since become the ?Golden Tree? of Ghana.

In a related development, ?Ghana Palaver? has learnt of desperate efforts to pay off journalists who have been on the ?Hotel Kufuor? story, both in the print and the electronic media in order for them to drop the story!

If the stories we are hearing are true, then really big monies are involved. We understand offers ranging between US$50,000 ? US$250,000 have been made, and vehicles, including 4-wheel drive vehicles, have also been put on the table.

Our information is that so far, there have been no takers.
