IT is reported that the NPP Government, as part of its "poverty alleviation" programme, has spent over 1.5 billion, in hiring "labour" to clean the coutnry's gutters.

However, but for the Grace of Mother Nature, which granted us some rains, in recent times, almost all our gutters, especially in the cities and urban centres, were nto only choked but also emitted such scent that could awaken the dead!

The obvious questions, which demand immediate anwers are:

* Where did the companies, granted the contruct, emerge from and how did they come by those contracts--through advertisements or what?

* In the case of Accra, did the desilting take place before the "advent" fo Mr Adjiri Blankson, or did it form part of his self-help programme?

* How much did the tax-man collect from these companeis, whose background is little known?

* Where has the patirotic zeal in the Ghanaian gone to the spirit of self-help, which became part of the national psyche, which made it a regular feature for the people to clean their ownas salaries for workers.
