Ghana Airways taxied down at Rome early this morning. There were about 31 deportees on board the flight. The deportees refused to allow the aircraft to take off. One eye witness on the flight sent this message, "we are almost hijacked at Rome. They did not tell us there are 31 deportees on the plane. It is ridiculous. There are babies on the flight." With this information, a immediate contact was made with the Ghana Airways boss at London at about 04.00 am. Mr Roger Allotey was surprised that the aircraft was carrying 31 deportees without escort. More information to follow.
