Ghanaian Player Deported For Stealing (9)

Wed, 26 May 2004 Source: --

A Ghanaian player, on trial with an Israeli club, has had the trial abruptly ended. The player has been sent back to Ghana. According to an Israeli source, the player stole a watch and a small amount of money.

According to another source - on the ghanaweb soccer forum, - the player almost implicated Ghanaian international John Painstil, who has just completed a successful season in Israel, in the crime.

This is because he hid his stolen items in Painstil's car without his knowledge.

The culprit could have been handed over to the police, but Painstil got involved and pleaded on his behalf. He was sent to "Ogyakrom" on the next available flight.

He did it on a training ground - not in someones house - a place where all the players put their cloths and training gear.

The "master thief" got into the clock room and moved the stuff to Painstil's car. On the players return, someone who saw him, said he was in and out of Painstils car and a small search was done on the car where all th stolen items were found.

Name of the culprit is being withheld till we get confirmation

Ghanaian Players currently on trial in Israel:
Michael Osei (Kumasi Asante Kotoko)
Daniel Kawaka (Real Tamale United)
Bernard Dong Bortey (Hearts)
Aziz Ansah - (Kotoko)
Princeton Owusu-Ansah (AshantiGold)
