In the wake of the joint action of the six opposition parties namely the NDC, PNC, CPP, GCPP. NRP, and EGLE oppose the NPP's 'Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, the Government in a panic held a meeting at the Castle behind closed doors in the night of the very day the Opposition parties held their meeting on Wednesday 10th March 2004 with the Ambassadors of Nigeria, Benin and Togo and entreated then to allow their own citizens as well as Ghanaian citizens resident in their countries to enter Ghana to register for the elections, and that the NPP Government promised to keep her part of the border with Togo open 24 hours a day and sought the assistance of Togo and Benin especially to keep their side ogf the border open 24 hours a day as well, having already secured the assurance of President Obasanjo of Nigeria that the Nigerian side of the border will be kept opened 24 hours a day?
