NDC MPs Confront Victor Smith

Mon, 12 Sep 2005 Source: The Vanguard

After realizing his destructive influence on the NDC, although he is not even a card-bearing member of the party, some NDC MPs have stormed the office of ex-President Rawlings and pointedly expressed their misgivings about his Special Aide, Emmanuel Victor Smith.

The Vanguard is in possession of audiotapes of proceedings of the said encounter. Credible sources close to the minority leader, Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumanu Bagbin, told the Vanguard at a meeting at GIMPA that the raging MPs expressed their anger and frustration over Victor smith's constant response to NDC issues in the media and its toll on the party's credibility and chances of coming back to power.

Overwhelming public opinion is that Victor Smith is doing a great disservice to the NDC by his ?too known' attitude. The Vanguard's investigations have revealed that Victor once conspired with his boss, Flt Lt Jerry Rawlings to replace Hon. Alban Bagbin with Dr. Kumbouor as the minority leader in Parliament. However, the plot failed to work out because Bagbin had endeared himself to his colleague MPs by his posture and independent mindedness. Unlike John Mahama, John, Doe Adjajo and Twumasi Appiah, Victor Smith is a celebrated failure whose credentials, if any, cannot secure him a job at any decent public or private institution worth its salt.

Plucked from obscurity after a brief spell in the UK where he allegedly procured a fake certificate (details soon) to join Jerry Rawlings' commandos, Victor Smith has presently become purveyor of all that he surveys, from politics to coup plots and gayism. Fact is Victor Smith is shady character and his past records attest to this.

For example, how can Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, former first lady of the Republic, explain to Dr. Tony Aidoo the reason why she allegedly aborted a relationship between Victor Smith and a lady at the Ghana Free Zones Board? Unknown to the NDC MPs who stormed the former president's office for that show of bravado, Emmanuel Victor Smith's position as special assistant to the former president, is constitutionally sanctioned by the Greenstreet Report. But a question on the lips of decent Ghanaians is who pays this character called Victor Smith to enable him go to some radio stations and yell at the sitting President and his administration.

After over a six year spell at the home of the Rawlings', he has done more damage to society than his mentor, Jerry Rawlings. Political analysts the Vanguard spoke to were of the opinion that utterances of the former president and his special assistant are stoutly impeding the NDC's chances of victory in any general elections.

The NDC National chairman, Dr. Obed Asamoah who for several years as a politician has abstained from attacking his political opponents shares this sentiment. Unlike the Ahwois, the Totobi Quarkyi's, the Mike Gizo's and others, Victor Smith is a sneaky character whose records at Sabell (copies available to the Vanguard) hints of a desperate figure willing to please his employers, even if it is detrimental to the advancement of society at large.

This character now accuses the NPP government of incompetence, murder, tribalism, nepotism and all the isms that was practiced by the NDC before John Agyekum Kufuor took office.
