Nana Addo’s Drug Record Soars Up?

Sun, 11 Dec 2011 Source: The Informer

As Friends Accuse Him Of Destroying Life Of Partner

Intelligence Desk Report

Many people, particularly those from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) were of the view that calls on the NPP’s flagbearer, Mr. Williams Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, by discerning minds and political commentators to clear himself of the barrage of drug allegations being heaped against him were out of place. The beans, however, seem to have been spilt by no mean persons than Nana Addo’s close associates, who are now accusing the astute Ghanaian politician of destroying the life of their colleague, one James Amoako-Glover, leading to his death on last Thursday, 8th December, 2011; at the 37 Military Hospital. The leading NPP members, and some University mates of the deceased, who spoke to the Informer over the weekend under strict demand of anonymity for obvious reasons, with regards to the circumstances leading to the untimely death of the celebrated Lawyer, are indicting Nana Akufo-Addo, for having painfully ruined the life of his partner, saying posterity will never forgive him. According to the deceased’s University of Ghana mates, made principally of his year group, the bad state in which they find their colleague before his demise was unbelievable; and even though, they cannot state for a fact that they saw Nana Akufo-Addo and his partner using drugs, they are convinced that the deceased’s association with the former might have been negatively impacted on his life, and subsequently wasting him off.

“We know the person we are talking about, for he is one personality that most of us consult whenever we are confronted with challenges, and to see him die in this manner, beats our imagination and nothing can change our stance that Nana Addo must be blamed for the destruction of our friend”, the colleagues indicated.

The leader of the 1973 year group of the aforementioned University, on behalf of his mates, indicated that as their Students Representative Council (SRC) president, James Amoako-Glover, aside his academic records at the time, was a nice gentleman, with whom all of them were happy to have come into contact; and were therefore, not surprised to see him excel in his field of practice after their University education. So, for him to be seen walking the streets of Accra sometimes very unkempt, was difficult to believe, he indicated.

Asked what he thinks might have suddenly change the condition of their colleague after he won that celebrated Amoako Tuffuor case against the Attorney General, the leader of the group, replied that, unconfirmed reports were that their dying colleague took to the use of drugs and became so addicted that he virtually abandoned his job as a practising Lawyer, saying that is why ‘we are of the strongest of opinion that his association with Nana Addo as partners, might have negatively impacted on him.

“James, at campus, was a very decent person and as determined as he was, he indicated to those close to him that, he will surely become a household name in Ghana. So, when he won his case against the Attorney-General upon joining Akufo-Addo’s father’s Law Firm, Prempeh & Co. in 1976, and eventually became a partner in that Chamber, some of us were not surprised at all, because we knew what he was capable of doing. But for situations to change overnight and all of sudden our friend getting destroyed with allegations of him becoming a “Junkie” remains a mystery”, the leader of the ‘1973 Year Group’ told the Informer. “In fact, our friend was not known to be someone who uses drugs; and that is why we are holding Nana Akufo-Addo accountable for his demise”, he broke into tears, saying as friends and colleague school-mates of James Amoako-Glover, they will exert pressure on Akufo-Addo until he speaks publicly on the matter. A leading NPP member, who shares the same position with the schoolmates of the deceased, without mincing his words said, Akufo-Addo should be answerable to the death of the gentleman.

On condition of anonymity, the guru indicated that knowing who their flagbearer is, and what he is made up of; there was no circumstance under which the deceased associating with him would yield good results, since he is one person in our party that we all know uses drugs.

“Perhaps, James did not have money to take good care of himself unlike Nana Addo, who came to inherit his father’s money and property, and was only enjoying himself; that is why he was affected if the allegations and rumours tagged to his death is true: and that is why it seems completely misnomer on our part to have elected him as our flagbearer again”, he pointed. However, this paper’s investigations revealed that, James Amoako-Glover (now deceased), completed the University of Ghana, Legon, in 1973, and was the president of the Students Representative Council (SRC)in this same year. As a Lawyer, he joined Prempeh & Co (a law firm) in 1976, became very celebrated for winning a case against the Attorney-General, thus the famous Amoako Tuffuor case.

Until his death, James was not in the best of state and only God knows what Abena and her children are going through.

The Editor’s Note

If only by association accusing fingers could be pointed at Nana Akufo-Addo for destroying the life of somebody, he supposedly introduced to drugs, then Ghana will indeed be in trouble when by default he is voted as President, because then, all manners of crime will be legalized under his regime. First it was Ghanaians; then came Mr. Julian Assenge and his Wikileaks, revealing all manner of things about Akufo-Addo; even that, the NPP said no, but now that it is coming from within, we are all watching to see what will be the response as the drug record of their flagbearer is flying day by day.
