Please stop this man Daasebre

You know what guys, there is a guy in Ghana who calls himself Daasebre. This man has been going about terrorising owners of newly registered vehicles. His men in plain clothes and an unmarked vehicle stop you at anytime of the day, any where and ask for the customs and registration papers covering your vehicle.

He will then ask you to drive to the Kotobaabi police station, no matter which part of the city youre driving or heading or the time of the day even after you have produced the said documents indicating that you have duly paid all the customs duty etc. Having showed him all the necessary documents, this man and his gang will still keep your car with the explanation that they will have to crosscheck your documents with the customs head office in Accra. If your car is seized by Daasebre and his gang on a Friday then God have mercy on you. He seizes your car and the car keys and the documents and he surfaces in two three weeks time. Imagine the inconvenience. The last time this happened to me in Ghana I believed it because Dassebre told me that he was working for the National intelligence which I understand is an outfit under the Ministry of Defence and located at the Burma camp in Accra.

This Daasebre man even went ahead and showed me an ID card bearing the inscription National intelligence with his name, he showed me another one indicating that he was also working from the Castle, then he also went ahead to say that he had been appointed head of a team that is responsible for confiscating cars that had not paid the required duty etc, he went on to say that he was working directly with Baah wiredu and Osafo Marfo.

He told me I could go ahead to inquire from the police men at the Kotobabbi police station about his credentials which I did and infact they said that he had told them that he was a national intelligence operative and also the sister of the first Lady Theresa Kuffour. Now all this drama unfolded right in the presence of my Japanese friends and my Jpanese wife who I had come into the country with for the first time, indeed my Japanese friends were interested in investing in the IT industry in this country so they came down to familiarise themselves with the country, the people and relevant institution. And of course this is what they came face to face with barely a week after they landed in Ghana and I picked them up from the airport.

Fact is I shipped the Toyota car from Japan and paid all the custom duty and I was fully convinced that I had satisfied all the obigations expected of me. Indeed on that friday that we were rudely accosted by Daasebre and his we had just gone to the bank to cash some money which we still had in the car.My Japanese friends were so frightened by Daasebre and his gang who actually crossed our car and sk us to alight around Macarthy hill, thinking they were armed robbers my Japanese friends who are also experts in Martial art asked me whether they could go ahead and face the gang physically but I restrained them till the gang headed by Dassebre showed us their cards and claimed to be operatives of the national intelligence at Burma camp. Obviously drank this Daasebre who could barely stand on his two feet and puffing cigarette smoke virtually into our faces throughout the ordeal said we were suspected of causing financial loss to the state.

Infact this Daasebre man in halting english gave us a lecture of how powerful he was and how he had been with the NPP since its formative years, how all the journalists at Peace FM and how Komla Dumar formely of Joy FM are his close pals and they wouldnt hesitate in putting the story in the media.

Obviously traumatised by this ordeal including the fact that my Japanese friends could not visit all the places that they intended visiting because the car was taken away by Daasebre and I could not trace him for more than two weeks my friends have vowed not to set foot in Ghana only to be molested by the first ladys brother Daasebre. Interestingly just some two weeks ago two of my friends who returned to Ghana from the US and were driving their newly registered Benz cars were accosted by Daasebre and his gang in a similar fashion and this time this Daasebre man told them that even though he could tell from the documents covering the vehicle that they had duly paid the customs duty and all that he still had to keep their vehicles till the following Monday so he could confirm with the customs head office as to whether all they duty had indeed been paid, He went on to tell my friends to pay him 5 million cedis each if they wanted their cars to be released to them for the weekend. So this is Ghana for you my dear friends, call it cronysm and you will be right. For now I would like to call on the military command in Ghana whose aegis the national intelligence has been created to tell us whether they have instructed any such operative with the name Daasebre to go about seizing vehicles, the same also holds for Osafo Marfo and Kwabaena wiredu, these top NPP Men should tell us what they know about the Daasebre and his activities. The first lady should also confirm whether indeed he has a brother called Daasebre.

We need to stop this Daasebre gang, they are a disgrace to mother Ghana and the NPP and all I ask for is a probe into this mans activities. God save Ghana
