Daily Guide has learnt that there are surreptitious moves by a section of the Minority in Parliament to sweep Hon. Alban Sumanu Kingsford Bagbin, the Minority Leader in Parliament from his position. The flamboyant MP for Nadowli West has vamoosed from Parliament and is said to be holed up North, as a plot to uproot him like cassava from his potion as Minority Leader thickens.

His Deputy, Hon. Eddie Doe Adjaho, the Ave-Avenor MP has been penciled to replace him. According to officials in Parliament, Hon. Bagbin is in his constituency up North, and has not returned since Parliament re-opened last week. Daily Guide checks on the votes and proceedings of Parliament since January 17, 2006, when Parliament resumed indicated that the Minority Leader had absented himself from Parliament with permission.

Hon. Bagbin?s sin is, he is one of those National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members in Parliament who showed open support for the party?s former national chairman, Dr. Obed Asamoah in his bid to seek re-election as chairman of the party in defiance to the founder?s choice of Dr. Kwabena Adjei, the eventual winner. The other person in line to be hit by the NDC Tsunami is Hon. Akua Dansua, MP for North Dayi also perceived to be an Obed Supporter. She is currently the Deputy Minority whip in Parliament.

If the plot to extend the Koforidua NDC Tsunami to Parliament succeeds in kicking Bagbin out of the Minority leadership, it would confirm some analysts? view that NDC is a cult and that all who act outside the dictates of the cult, must be cleansed and ?chucked? out of the party, or demoted as in the case of Bagbin and co.

Meanwhile the NDC General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketsia has dismissed the publication describing it as the figment of someone?s imagination. ?General Mosquito? as he is popularly called told PeaceFM that the NDC has no plans of changing its leader in Parliament. He said Mr. Bagbin would continue to serve as the minority in Parliament till the end of his four year term as a Member of Parliament.
