Rawlings Assasination plot uncovered

Former President Rawlings wishes to bring to the attention of the general public, a plan to assassinate him and his entire family.

A two-fold plan uncovered yesterday by the former President¢s security confirmed a plan to assassinate the former President in the Brong Ahafo where he had been campaigning for the NDC Presidential candidate John Atta Mills in the Tain Presidential runoff election.

Simultaneously another group was to go to the Ridge residence of the former First Family and take out Mrs Rawlings and the children.

Immediately news of the attempt was uncovered the Former President and his family were moved to undisclosed locations.

Initial investigations have confirmed that ten senior army officers including three brigadier generals, four colonels and two lieutenant colonels hatched the plan.

Details of these persons are being kept confidential as investigations continue and will be released at the appropriate time.

Former Rawlings is calling on Ghanaians to remain vigilant and resolute and avoid attempts to sow seeds of confusion and violence following the protracted Presidential elections.
