BIG VOTES FOR SECURITY GUARDS ... For night allowances and training
Palaver -- THE NPP Government spent over ?3.5 billion (?3,536,612,500) for the maintenance of the Presidential Security Guards, within three months (for the fourth quarter of last year).
Apart from that another amount of over four hundred million cedis (?417,471,950) was spent within the same period to meet payment of overnight allowance and training for the same guards.
As usual, both payments were authorised by Finance Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo.
Finance Ministry sources, who leaked the document to the 'Ghana Palaver' claimed that the quarterly payments to the Presidential Guardsmen far outstrip amounts spent on some District Police Units in the country.
Some police stations have run out of basic materials, like stationery and torch-lights!
Already, there has been an outcry over the formation of "Party Police", some members of which, have been traced to a house at Madina and some obscure places.
The Government, however, continues to deny the existence of that unit.
