The leadership of Volta Hall, the women?s hall, of the University of Ghana, has denied media reports of an alleged mysterious death of a student of the hall. At a press conference on Thursday, Precious Agyare, President of the Junior Common Room, said there was no truth in the publication.

The student leadership was reacting to media reports that a student had died after narrating a story about her "Sugar Daddy" with whom she had visited a hotel. The reports had it that her death had compelled most of the students to vacate the hall while the rest had turned the place into a prayer camp.

She said that at the beginning of the school year, there were 839 registered resident students of the hall and as at Tuesday, March 14 there were still 839 students after a room-to-room head count was conducted. "All necessary checks indicate that there is absolutely no one missing from any room in the hall; from the main blocks or their annexes", she said.

Ms Agyare expressed concern about the unprofessional manner in which the story was reported saying at no point did any media house contact the student leadership to find out the authenticity of the story.

"This type of journalism is unprofessional and unfair to us in the Volta Hall and all ladies in the university at large. Our hall is not in any way haunted nor have any of our ladies left the hall. We are all safe and intact and busily preparing for our 45th Hall Week celebrations," she said.
