Many people took the Kufuor's administration serious when they decalared zero tolerance for corruption at the onset. Information coming in, however, indicates that an Engineer of the Ghana Water Company who had been investigated by an internal committee and found guilty (in the presence of his lawyer) of stealing Company property, and was still on interdiction at the time pending institution of appropriate punishment, was ordered reinstated by then Minister of Works and Housing, Honourable K Bartels.

This Engineer is now back there accusing everybody of being a thief. His wife and Hon. Bartels wife are said to be sisters.

Kufuor's principle of zero tolerance for corruption failed from day one.
