4 Garrison were crowned winners of the 2018 Kilit Insecticide Tourney
It was virtually a one-sided affair as 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club whitewashed Hill Tennis Club from Cape Coast to lift this year’s Annual Kilit Tennis tournament. 4 Garrison who were playing at home, paraded their best team. Therefore it was not a surprise when they won the singles by 7-0 and the doubles 3-2.
The likes of Mr. Henry Akwaboah, Managing Director of Engine Ghana, Joshua Duah, Nii Kwei, Samuel Taylor, Nana Yaw Wallas, Samuel Aidoo and Captain of 4 Garrison, Jonathan Quartey, all won the men’s singles matches against their counterparts from Cape Coast.
In the Men’s doubles however, Cape Coast Tennis Club turned the tables as Ben Nartey and Emmanuel Akiba won 7-2 against Ernest Antwi and Albert. Dr. Amega/ Gabirle Kojo also ousted Vice President of Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) Samuel Ampedu Kyei (Kyikyiss) and his partner Henry Akwaboah 7-5. The away team's celebration in the doubles was short lived as 4 Garrison Club Captain Jonathan Quartey and Nana Osei outclassed Jerry Akapo and Kevin 7-4. Nana Yaw and Maxwell Owusu also got another win for home as they defeated Kwasi Bondziea/Edusa 7-4. 4 Garrison Club's Coach Acquah paired with Tony Wularu to beat William Omane and Edvam 7-2.
The trophy presentation ceremony was witnessed by the Managing Director of Evergreen Chemicals Ltd, sole agent of Kilit Insecticide Spray and other Polygard Products, Mr. John Dele and his wife Mrs. Abigail Dele. Mr. Dele also donated one box of Kilit insecticide spray to both clubs.
The President of 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club Mr. S.S. Abebe expressed his appreciation to Kilit Insecticide Spray for the sponsorship and thanked Hill Tennis Club for honoring the invitation.
The Managing Director of Evergreen Chemicals Limited Mr. John Dele said his company is proud to be associated with the event and tennis. He promised his company’s continuous support of the club in the coming years.
