All set for finals of 2019 Baboo Tennis Singles Open

Come Saturday, August 31, patriots and tennis lovers will troop to the TOR tennis court, Tema for the grand finale of the 2019 Baboo Sports Tema Tennis Open.

The open which started on Saturday, August 3, 2019 saw 160 tennis players competing for honors in seven categories. The Queens category which happens to be a maiden category will see Kate Coleman (Ghana Police Service) knock horns with Yvonne Bruce Tagoe (VRA Tennis club), the above 60 years category will have Paa Kofi Grant (TOR Tennis club) play Bob Williams (GCB Tennis club) play in the finals.

Ghana Tennis Federation President, Isaac Aboagye Duah (AMTEC) will battle with David Kisseh (Kaneshie Tennis Club) for honors in the 46-59years category, the special group which is made up of semi-professional and coaches also has Isaac Bempo (Ghacem Tennis Club) and Job Obimpeh (Tema Tennis Club).

The professional category has Isaac Tritriku (Ghacem Tennis Club) and Samuel Antwi (Atomic Tennis Club) and finally the U-16 boys will see Desmond Ayaba (Baboo Sports Academy) play Amos Asante (Saint Francis Academy).

The competition which started on Saturday 3rd August, 2019 serves as a platform for players to exhibit their skills, socialize, network and also to promote the participation of women in tennis.

The event have received sponsorship from Keed-Nla, St. Gobain Weber, Investcorp, Lukfonson Investment Ltd., Rimatheratouch, Jonmoore, Frontline Capital Advisory & Ecostar Environmental Services, Mr. Laundry, Nick Royal Hotel, Baboo Fitness Center, Best Western Plus Accra Beach Hotel, Uptouch Consult Ltd and Baboosports.

Winners in each category will receive a trophy, tennis shoes, tennis accessories and 3months gym access to the Baboo Fitness center. 2nd place will receive tennis bag, 2months gym access at the Baboo Fitness center. Semifinalists will receive tennis apparel and 1months gym access at the Baboo Fitness center. Quarterfinalists will go home with tennis accessories and 1month gym access at the Baboo Fitness center. Winner in the professional category will go home with a cash price of Ghc500, 1st runner up will take home Ghc400, Semi & Quarter finalists will go home with Ghc350 and Ghc200 respectively.

The winner of the U-16 boys will receive an educational scholarship of $300 and $200 to the 1st runner-up. Finalists in each category will receive gift vouchers from Royal Nick Hotel and Best Western Plus Accra Beach hotel.
