Ghana have failed to qualify to the Euro-African Zone II in the Davis Cup following 3-0 defeat to Algeria on Tuesday.
The Golden Rackets needed a win against the North Africans to remain alive in the competition having lost their ironing pool match to Namibia.
Ghana’s team comprising of George Darko, Wisdon Na-Adjrago, Japheth Anwasiba Bagerbaseh, Pascal Ziyab Alome and captain Joseph Acquah however fell in three straight sets to Algeria to bow out of the competition.
The Golden Rackets however have a game left to play against Tunisia before heading home.
Ghana hoped to have secured progress into the Euro-African Zone II following their gold-winning feat at the 2015 All Africa Games.
But poor planning seems to have cost the highly talented side with a last minute confirmation of their participation in the Davis Cup being staged in Cairo, Egypt.
The team had to rely on the benevolence of Tennis loving philanthropist Daniel MacKorley [MacDan] to make s trip to Casablanca to camp ahead of the Davis Cup.
But not even his laudable late intervention was enough to prepare the team adequately to face their challenge in the 2015 David Cup.
