Members of the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) have presented the Medals they won at the just ended Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) Zone II, Tournament dubbed "Laurent Gbagbo Table Tennis Youth Championship" held in La Cote d'Ivoire to the National Sports Council in Accra.
Ghana won four gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the four day championship.
Mr Worlanyo K. Agrah, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Council who received the award winners at his office praised the players for exhibiting excellent performance in the tournament. He promised the players that the Council will expedite action on their winning bonuses and other incentives in order to give the players a deserving reward.
The NSC boss also commended the Chairman of the GTTA, Sq. Leader Ebo Bartels for ensuring the promotion and development of the discipline in the country.
Mr Agrah announced that the Council will soon renovate the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra to speed up the development of Table Tennis and other indoor games in the country. This, he noted will afford the team the right atmosphere to prepare adequately for the impending championship in Benin. Mr Kwame Amponfi Jr, Secretary General of GTTA expressed his delight that efforts were been made to give the players winning bonuses, saying it will go a long way in boosting the morale of the team ahead of major competitions. 06 Aug. 09
