Accra, July 3, GNA - The national tennis team, the Golden Racket, began camping on Sunday ahead of the crucial Euro African Zone 11 Davis Cup play-off against Georgia without Number Two seed Salifu Mohammed. The young player is expected to join his colleagues immediately on his arrival on Wednesday.

The team's early preparation is a departure of the previous practice where players were assembled barely 72 hours before competitions necessitated by individuals' heavy schedules.

Top seed Henry Adjei Darko and experienced player Gunther Darkey both arrived in the country on Friday and joined their local component of Michael Nortey and Fred Egyir at the Winniba Sports Collage. The team under the guidance of captain (coach) David Churcher moves down to Accra on Sunday, July 10, to fine tune before the game.

The Rackets would from Friday, July 15 through to Sunday, July 17, embark on a journey for survival when they host Georgia at the Frank Ofori Court (Centre Court) of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium.

Salifu in the last tourney against Finland replaced Darkey as the second seed due to the latter's inability to pass a late fitness test.
