PM Sports holds talent identification session for tennis players

PM Sports in collaboration with the Ghana Tennis Federation and the International Tennis Federation held a talent identification session for upcoming tennis players at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

The one-day event hosted about a hundred promising tennis stars who were selected nationwide to participate in the program.

As part of it's core mandate to identify budding stars, the event was also targeted at nurturing and increasing national team players at the junior level.

In an exclusive interview, ITF instructor who also doubles as Development Officer of Ghana Tennis, Noah Bagerbaseh said players were selected on merit.

He said "We identified the players with a creteria on skill related issues; coordination, balance, agility, speed power and reaction time. After this we draw a special tennis training program to enhance the opportunity for them to be in the National Juniors Team."

Administrative Manager of PM Sports, Isaac Boateng revealed that

PM Sports "intends to have a 10 week session for tennis players in January. We are planning to go to Eastern, Ashanti and Central region to create the awareness on tennis.

Peter Mensah's passion is to see about 5,000 children participating in tennis every year, girls and boys all included."

He also called on corporate institutions to contribute to the sporting discipline.
