Reviving Factor of Table Tennis in Ghana revealed

The sport of table tennis during the early 2000 was a very popular sport in Ghana,with players playing across the globe. The downward surge of the sport from 2005-2009 brought a halt to the overall progress of the sports in the country.

Then came the now Preident Mr. Mawuko Afzanu who also doubles as Chief Executive officer of Stanbic Bank and his team who took office in 2014 and since then there has been vast improvement of the sport in the country. The resumption of the national league and other tournament has really helped with the growth of the sport.

In an interview with sportscrusader.com, the President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association(GTTA) Mr.Mawuko said, “the resurgence of the sport has basically got to do with how well I and my team have being able to mobilize funds for the sports which has enabled as execute the various planned strategies”.

He also added that,”the two national team players representing Ghana at the qualifier in Sudan includes the 2016 table tennis champion Felix Lartey and former champion Derek Abrefa who are sure bet to guarantee Ghana success at the tourney.
