Accra, Nov. 25, GNA - The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will from December 10, begin an elaborate youth development programme aimed hunting for more talents for the sport.
The programme, sponsored by J.A. Biney and Co Limited, would be organised on a monthly basis for two years at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A Press release issued by the association copied to the GNA Sports said 28 players have been selected from the recent Basic Schools Sports Festival in Bolgatanga to participate in the event.
The selected players who are all Under-15 years include 15 girls and 13 boys and were drawn from the ten regions of the country. Those selected from the Central Region are Cecilia Baah-Danso, Comfort Ampah, Dorothy Obuabi, Baba Jebelila, Michael Amoah, John Gurah and Samuel Koomson, and those from the Greater Accra Region are made up of Cynthia Kwabi, Millicent Mettle, Esther Quaye, Abigail Tetteh, Emmanuel Commey, Lord Stephen Amihere and Daniel Quarshie.
Portia Edwin, Alice Danso and Samuel Oppong will be representing the Western Region with Samuel Akayode and Jerry Akayode coming from the Eastern Region.
The Ashanti Region would be represented by Debora Afriyie and Mayfield Acheampong whilst Gifty Amoah and Borkunor Didier represent the Volta Region.
From the Northern Region are Abdulai Hamdia and Siberko Hertag with Bernice Bediako from the Brong Ahafo Region, Macnoon Abubakari from the Upper West Region and Shaibu Williams coming from the Upper East Region. Mr Emmanuel Oteng-Aboagye, General Secretary of GTTA in a statement urged all the Physical Education organisers and Regional Development Officers to ensure that the selected players report for the exercise on December 10.
He said the players are to spend two days in Accra for the exercise and gave the assurance that their transport fares would be borne by the Association.
