Tennis championship postponed for the second time

Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - The much awaited Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Open Championship has been postponed for the second time. The championship, which is being sponsored by J.A. Binney and Company was originally scheduled for Saturday, August 21, but it was postponed to August 28, to enable the participants have enough time for their preparations and to coincide with the Ga Homowo Festival.

Mr Emmanuel Oteng-Aboagye, General Secretary of the GTTA in a release copied to the GNA Sports said the championship has now been shifted to mid September. He said the postponement was necessitated by an early booking of the venue for the programme, the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium by the Tae-Kwondo Association, Ghana (TAG).

Mr Oteng-Aboagye said TAG had earlier on booked the place for a one-day seminar for referees, coaches and officials of the sport. He said the decision of the Association to postpone the competition was also to include the Under-15 players in the competition.
