Host, Hydro Spikers from Akosombo defeated A. S Spikers from Asutuare by 3 sets to 1 in the first week of the Akro-Ako Eastern Regional volleyball league played at Akosombo.
Hydro spikers won the first set by 25 to 22, went on to win the second set by 27 to 25 before A.S Spikers came back to win the third set by 25 to 22.
Hydro spikers came strongly to win the fourth set by 25 to 17 to carry the day.
Other matches played saw, Bridge Spikers from Atimpoku walloping Spartan V.C from Odumasi by 3 sets to nil.
The team from Atimpoku dominated play from start to the end and won the first set 25 to 12, the second set 25 to 18 and the third set 25 to 19.
Okere United Way from Adukrom beat Young Stars from Kpong by 3 sets to 1.
The Adukrom boys won the first set by 25 to 22, won the second set by 25 to 17 and lost the third set to Young Stars by 20 to 25 before winning the fourth set by 25 to 18.
The only match played in the ladies division saw Atimpoku ladies winning all three sets to nil against Asutuare Ladies.
They dominated proceedings by winning 25 to 11, 25 to 19 and 25 to 17 in the first, second and third set respectively.
This weekend all the action would be at the Koforidua Jackson Pack volleyball court for the second-week matches in the league.
Court Winners from Donkorkrom would lock horns with Supreme Fingers from Nkawkaw.
The other two matches to be played on the day are host Unity Club from Koforidua would battle Power Hands Attackers from Obomeng and in the ladies category, Donkorkrom Ladies would play Koforidua Ladies.
