Second 16-year-old charged in Madison homicide

The day after a 16-year-old is arrested for criminal homicide for a Madison homicide, another 16-year-old is charged in connection.

On Friday night, the Metro Nashville Police Department said detectives arrested 16-year-old De'Nylen Montgomery on Rio Vista Drive for the October 15 deadly shooting at the Birchstone Village Apartments. John Diaz, 21, died in the shooting, and his 14-year-old brother was injured.

Earlier on Friday, officers took 16-year-old Chad Wright into custody at his Nashville high school for his involvement.

Both Montgomery and Wright are charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide and engaging in a criminal conspiracy. Police said they are investigating a potential robbery motive.

According to police, the victims were inside a car when they were shot at.
