The Ghana National Gas Company is conducting a free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal exercise for residents within its operational districts in the Western Region.

The exercise, which commenced on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, is expected to benefit 20,000 residents across the Western Region where the company operates. It is scheduled to end on Friday, April 10, 2026.

The beneficiary or operational districts include Jomoro, Ellembelle, Nzema East, Ahanta West, Prestea Huni-Valley, Mpohor, Shama, and the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

Speaking to the media at Nsein in the Nzema East Municipality on Wednesday, the company’s Assistant Manager for Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility, Anlimah Woku Henry, commended the CEO, Judith Adjobah Blay, for prioritizing the welfare of residents in the company’s catchment communities by implementing the health program.

He explained that the initiative aims to expand access to quality primary healthcare by ensuring that more residents in the company’s operational communities are enrolled in the NHIS. He emphasized that the exercise forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“As a responsible corporate company, we seek to enhance the healthcare of our people within our operational areas. That is the reason why we are embarking on this exercise,” he stated.

“We believe that the project-affected people and communities should benefit from the company’s CSR initiatives, and we prioritize our people,” he added.

Anlimah Henry further assured that in the coming months and years, the company would embark on extensive infrastructural development within its operational communities.

“This is not the only initiative we are implementing. In the coming months and years, we will embark on infrastructural development in health, education, sanitation, and other sectors. We are committed to serving the needs of our operational communities,” he assured.

He therefore urged residents within the company’s operational districts to participate fully in the ongoing exercise.

“I encourage everyone to take their health seriously and register or renew their health insurance cards,” he called.

He disclosed that, “This is the first time in the company’s history that a CEO is leading a project to enroll 20,000 people onto the NHIS within a year. This is unprecedented, and I’m sure the catchment communities will be grateful to the CEO, Madam Judith Adjobah Blay, for prioritizing their health.”

Some beneficiaries who spoke to Daniel Kaku at Akabaku in the Jomoro Municipality also commended the CEO of the company for providing free NHIS registration.

“We are very grateful to the Ghana Gas Company, especially the CEO, Madam Judith Adjobah Blay, for thinking about us. Traveling from Akabaku to Half Assini or Nkroful to register or renew NHIS cards is not easy and can be costly. We pray that God protects the CEO and the company so that they can continue helping us whenever another opportunity arises,” they said.
