Following the general elections in 2024, President Akufo-Addo has expressed his sincere congratulations to the president-elect and the members of parliament-elect.

As the new leaders are ready to take on leadership duties, he also prayed for knowledge, strength, and divine blessings.

President Akufo-Addo thanked Ghanaians for the successful conclusion of the 2024 general elections in his Christmas address to the country on Tuesday, December 24, calling it a significant turning point in the country's democratic history.

"With the peaceful, free, and fair election of a new president and new members of parliament this year, we have reached another monumental milestone in our national development, fellow Ghanaians. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the president-elect and the MPs-elect, and I pray for their wisdom, strength, and God's blessings as they prepare to lead our beloved country," he said.

The elections were hailed by the president as evidence of Ghana's standing as an African democracy leader.

He did not, however, hold back from tackling the difficulties that arose along the procedure.

The post-election violence acts that spoilt an otherwise excellent democratic exercise were sharply denounced by President Akufo-Addo.

"However, I must categorically denounce the needless acts of violence that have marred an otherwise excellent democratic exercise," he said.
