Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has called on newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) to commit to meeting Ghana's and their constituents' urgent needs. MPs must respect the sacrifices made by their constituents, who have tasked them with the duty of representing their interests in Parliament, according to Speaker Bagbin.
The Speaker noted during a first-time MP orientation session that parliamentarians have a big responsibility to protect the future of the people they represent, many of whom may have dedicated their life to helping their representatives in their political endeavors.
"You serve as an example. You are essential to so many people's life. Don't let them down. My heart is touched by this. As you move around, you remember how people are defending you with their lives—not only during elections, but even now in the villages. And here you are, playing with their future and taking it easy. "
The Almighty God himself will not bless you, and that is completely unfair. Because such blessing is unnecessary for you. It's also true. You get back what you put in. Therefore, don't believe that you benefit anyone else. You do it for your own benefit.
