Former Church of Pentecost Chairman and member of the Board of Trustees for Ghana's National Cathedral, Rev. Opoku Onyinah, has advised Ghanaians to have faith in the nation's electoral system. He gave the populace his word that Ghana's elections are legitimate and cannot be rigged to support a specific candidate.
Rev. Onyinah cautioned the youth in a social media post not to be influenced by politicians who want to stir up trouble for their own benefit. "God cares a great deal about Ghanaians and our involvement in the democratic process. It is crucial that you vote for the candidate you think can rule the country honourably and effectively as we get ready to cast our votes on December 7th," he stated.
He reminded the populace that although God operates through human activities, it is their duty to cast informed ballots and accept the results. God will not pick a leader for us directly; instead, He has decided to use humans.
Therefore, in order to make a sensible decision, you must utilise your reasoning in a prayerful and careful manner. Rev. Onyinah emphasised that God may use elected politicians to accomplish His goals by citing biblical figures like Cyrus and Darius.
"After you have voted, trust the electoral process and accept that the candidate with the majority of votes will be declared the winner," he said, urging people to have faith in the political process and respect the outcome.
Do not let any self-centred politician or individual lead you into violence or turmoil since Ghana's electoral institutions are stable and trustworthy. Additionally, he stressed that nonviolent methods, rather than violence or manipulation, should be used to seek leadership and urged residents to be ready for both victory and failure.
