Political analyst Dr. Asah Asante has defended the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) over fears of an energy crisis. He expressed confidence in the current administration’s ability to address the issue.
Dr. Asah-Ashante stated on Morning Starr with Naa Deide Tettey that although the NDC was opposed, they were only able to voice their worries about the impending energy issue, which were mostly ignored. He did, however, accuse the previous administration of deceiving the people by downplaying the gravity of the problem by denying the existence of "dumsor" (power outages).
According to Asah Asante, these false claims were an unsuccessful attempt to hide the growing energy problems, which have now reached a breaking point.
Asante also acknowledged the seriousness of the current energy crisis but expressed optimism about the current administration’s ability to solve the problem.
The political analyst expressed optimism that the administration, with its straightforward and unambiguous attitude, will be able to overcome the energy issues and praised the current government for taking proactive measures to fix the issue. "Given their opponents, how could they have done that? They talked about it, which was the finest thing they could have done.
All of this, however, was ignored. The people was misled into thinking that there was no "dumsor" by the government's refusal to listen. "No 'dumsor' anywhere, we are fixing and improving the system, and all the noise about dum sie sie," are the remarks you heard.
People will alter their course to either reward or penalize you once they learn the truth. The true problem is right in front of us today. I'm telling you this because we don't use deceit, manipulation, or lies to govern. Fortunately, this government has already done it. It will not be a different situation to deal with. They should be able to organize their home and deal with the issue directly because I'm sure it's within their means. There is always a time for rewards and penalties in government.
“With this start of approach, whatever the challenge is, this government will be able to surmount it. I am happy that these things are coming up now, and the president has put a team together to work on it. That is how governance ought to happen.”
