Great Ampong clarifies that "Emmoa Asem Nkoaa" is not a diss track aimed at John Mahama.

[11/23, 11:23 AM] Reshia: Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, popularly known as "The Great Ampong," a renowned Ghanaian gospel music icon, has denied accusations of insulting former President John Dramani Mahama.

The singer explained that his political song, Emmoa Asem Nkoaa, is not intended to be disrespectful, but rather reflects the content of Mahama's campaign speeches. According to Ampong, the song highlights what the former president has been saying during his campaign tours.

“The message in my song Emmoa Asem Nkoaa is not an insult to the former president or members of the NDC. It’s simply part of our Akan language,” he explained in an interview with Amansan Krakye.

He further elaborated, “I’m pointing out that much of what the former president says revolves around food and animals, like his recent statement in Accra that when we talk about Kenkey, it’s linked to digitalization.”

Ampong continued, “His promises seem to focus mainly on food and meat, which inspired me to write the song. The world is advancing with high-tech developments, not just discotheques.”

A dedicated member of the New Patriotic Party, Ampong recently released his campaign song featuring Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, but he has faced criticism from various social media users.
